I was born in Wisconsin and lived in Illinois for much of my formative years, but I live in the Raleigh, NC area now, and have for over 20 years.
I've been writing music for years, starting with early PC [trackers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_tracker) like [Multitracker](https://archive.org/details/demoscene_MultitrackerModuleEditor-Renaissance), [Scream Tracker](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scream_Tracker) and [Impulse Tracker](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse_Tracker).
Nowadays I use [Renoise](https://www.renoise.com/) which is the great-great-great grandchild of oldskool trackers, with a modern interface and workflow, and support for VSTs, sidechains, and more.
